The LokSound 5 micro is a small wonder: with a floor space of only 21 x 10 mm, it is by far one of the smallest LokSound decoders we have ever built. So it fits in all N and TT vehicles, but is also suitable for small H0 vehicles. All LokSound decoders feature a Next18 interface and are available with adapter plugs for all popular digital interface types. The decoder comes with an 11 mm x 15 mm sugar cube speaker and a set of sound enclosures. The LokSound 5 micro DCC is made for the North American and Australian markets. It is a pure DCC decoder, supports RailComPlus and can also be used on DC tracks. Please note that the LokSound 5 DCC decoder does not come with a loudspeaker.
Operating mode:
the LokSound 5 micro is a true multiprotocol decoder. It supports DCC as well as Motorola®, Selectrix® and M4. Naturally, it supports 14 to 128 speed steps, 2- and 4-digit addresses in DCC format and up to 32 functions. Thanks to RailComPlus®, the decoders register fully automatically with suitable central units. This decoder supports all DCC programming modes and thanks to RailCom® you can read the CV values on the mains, provided you have a central unit that supports RailCom®. There are auxiliary program registers for central units that only facilitate programming CVs from 1 to 255. Motorola® users benefit from up to 28 speed steps for 255 addresses. Three additional Motorola® addresses allow activation of 16 functions. An integral programming mode even allows programming with the good old Control Unit 6021. The M4 protocol supports automatic login to mfx®-compatible control units. The LokSound decoder supports Märklin® brake sections as well as ZIMO® HLU brake commands or the Lenz® ABC system. Braking with DCC brake generators or with DC is also possible. Moreover, with LokSound, the locomotive comes to a stop when a Selectrix® brake diode is switched in the circuit. The ABC push-pull function enables automatic shunting between two stations. The LokSound 5 micro decoder is also suitable for analog DC and AC(!) layouts.
Sound:
the LokSound 5 microdecoder can output up to 10 channels simultaneously. Each channel offers up to 16 bit / 31250 kHz and thus we have finally achieved hi-fi sound quality on your layout. For all practical purposes, one cannot detect any difference from the original. A dual Class D audio power amplifier with up to 3W output power feeds the speakers with an allowable impedance of 4 32 Ohms. The huge sound memory of 128 MBit provides sufficient storage capacity. The volume of all individual sound clips can be adjusted individually. The extraordinarily flexible sound engine without rigid flow chart allows prototypical simulation of all conceivable railroad vehicles. Three individually adjustable braking functions and two alternative loading scenarios offer you maximum control over your vehicles. Functions:
despite its small size, the LokSound 5 micro decoder features at least 6 amplified function outputs and one logic output. There are two more logic outputs on the Next18 interface, which can be used alternately to control RC servos. Of course, all major lighting functions are supported. The brightness of each output can be adjusted individually. The decoder supports the automatic push and pull motions also known as the torque roller required for reliable operation of digital couplers such as those from ROCO® and Krois®, as well as Telex® couplers.
Motor control:
The motor control of the LokSound 5 micro has been further improved. A variable PWM pulse frequency from 10 kHz to 50 kHz ensures perfect quiet operation, especially with coreless motors. The typical hum is thus a thing of the past. Load control can now be adjusted with up to 10 individual CVs and can thus handle even the most difficult cases. The unique Auto Tune function facilitates the automatic calibration of the decoder to perfectly match the engine. The LokSound 5 micro decoder provides sufficient motor current (up to 0.75 A) for its intended applications.
